Jazz - Traditional and Commercial

Jazz is a core part of the training at Niche, developing strong technique, musicality, coordination, flexibility, versatility and performance quality.
Under our Jazz umbrella, dancers can access a range of classes designed to develop different aspects of their training, including Technique & Drills, Strength & Stretch, Jazz Progressions and Performance classes.
Performance work can move across the many styles that sit within Jazz, from Theatre Jazz and traditional influences through to Commercial Jazz and everything in between. This gives our dancers the opportunity to experience different movement qualities, choreography and performance styles rather than being trained in one narrow version of Jazz.
Technical classes focus on the foundations that support that performance work, developing strength, flexibility, turns, kicks, leaps, progressions, control and movement quality.
As dancers progress through Niche, these different elements work together to create dancers who are not only technically capable, but versatile, musical and able to adapt to different choreographic styles.
For dancers wanting to extend their training further, Jazz also plays an important role within our extension and performance pathways.
Technique. Strength. Versatility. Performance.

Not sure what all of that means? Don’t worry, you don’t need to know the difference between Theatre Jazz, Commercial Jazz or a Jazz Progressions class before you arrive. Tell us a little about your dancer, their age, experience and what they’re looking for, and we’ll help you find the right place to start.
