Nichole Davis has spent a lifetime in dance, as a dancer, teacher, studio director, adjudicator and technical coach.

Beginning dance at just three years old, Nichole grew up within the studio world she would eventually make her own. In 1994, she took over Patrician, one of Melbourne’s original dance studios, established in the mid-1960s, and continued its legacy as East Ivanhoe School of Dance.

For almost twenty years, Nichole built and developed the studio in East Ivanhoe before a new chapter began in 2013. With a move to Thornbury came a new name, Niche Dance Studios.

​

The change was more than a rebrand. Niche reflected something Nichole had come to believe deeply through decades of teaching, that there is no single version of what a dancer should be or what their dance journey should look like. Every dancer needs the opportunity to find their place, their people and their own pathway in dance. To find their Niche.

A Licentiate of the Cecchetti Method, Nichole also holds the Maestro Cecchetti Diploma, Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Studio Management, and is ADA qualified. Her professional dance career spanned more than a decade before her focus shifted increasingly towards teaching, technical development and studio leadership.

Nichole has now spent more than 35 years developing dancers and has adjudicated extensively throughout Australia. Her experience includes work as a Victorian College of the Arts teacher and panellist and Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School panellist, alongside national adjudication, external examining and decades of coaching dancers at recreational, examination, pre-professional and professional levels. She is also the head conditioning coach with DANCE PRESCRIPTION and runs retreats for dancers and studio owners.

At Niche, Nichole remains actively involved in the training and development of students. Her particular focus is classical technique, conditioning and technical coaching, including private coaching across technical dance styles.

For Nichole, quality dance training is about far more than producing technically capable dancers. Niche has grown around the belief that dancers can be challenged, nurtured and known as individuals, with pathways that allow them to pursue dance in the way that is right for them.

After more than 50 years in dance, Nichole continues to learn, teach, question and evolve, and Niche continues to do the same.
